Trip To Sivan Malai (30-April-2011)

Located : Kangeyam District.
Via : Kangeyam tp Tripur Road.
Town Buses : 16, 1b.1a.

The beautiful hill, sivan malai is located on Tirupur road and it is just 6 km away from Kangeyam. The presiding deity is lord Murugan. The temple is located atop the hill which can be reached both by steps (450steps) and by road. The place is calm and clean, which provides soothing serenity to the mind. The idol of Lord Murugan was an astonishing one with beautiful work. There are number of festivals celebrated here, one, very much notable that brings thousands of people is "Thearotam" (Car festival). The "thearotam" festival will last for 3 days. During this time a colourfully decorated Huge wodden car with idol of lord Muruga will be taken round the hill.
The temple has been rebuilt recently to its new look. People all around the state come here for every Thaipoosam, making it an great event by singing hymns sung by great poets like Arunagirinathar - the famous poet who sung on most of the Murugan temples in the state had also sung on the presiding deity of Sivanmalai.
People around Kangeyam come here for every Shasti celebrations making it a great event with its pious and serenity maintained in the Temple.
